Remake Learning Days | Lighthouse Project and Y Creator Space
The YMCA Lighthouse Project and Y Creator Space will host three Remake Learning Days events this spring, giving teens the chance to experience activities like beatmaking and artmaking and take part in a STEAM game night.
Remake Learning Days Across America 2020 is a festival of innovative, hands-on learning events for families to engage together and explore community resources. This celebration highlights innovative experiences and opportunities for youth to develop their sense of creativity, perseverance and curiosity.
BeatMaking x BeatShare: A meetup for young musicians & producers
Thursday, May 7, 4-7 PM
Homewood-Brushton YMCA, Lighthouse Teen Center
Ages: high school
This event provides a space for teen producers and musicians to learn new skills, play tracks and meet new friends. The event will include beatmaking tutorials by professional producers and listening session where young musicians can play their original tracks in a real recording studio and get feedback from peers and professionals. Bring a track you created or come and make something new!

STEAM Game Night

The Y Creator Space youth have been learning so many new things about topics ranging from “Lost In Space” to “Exploring the Ocean.” Community members are invited to come into YCS and learn about these topics from the youth themselves. They will be spending the first half of the night teaching you all they know, and then the second half of the night will be their own interactive game of jeopardy testing your new knowledge (for some awesome prizes).
We Are Heroes: Teen Art Gallery and Anime Artmaking

Ages: high school
This event will who showcase original teen artwork that celebrates fictional and non-fiction heroes from black history and culture. Attendees can also participate in an artmaking workshop where they will create their own superheroes and anime characters using photography, drawing and image transfer techniques.
