The Lighthouse Project

Giving Youth the Opportunity to Explore and Create

The Lighthouse Project is a teen center housed inside the Homewood-Brushton YMCA The Lighthouse is an exciting place for teens to be creative, connect with peers, and access cutting-edge media and music technology.

Courses offer in-depth skill-building and expert instruction in a specific art form or discipline. Courses are typically 10-weeks long and take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.  Each year we offer a variety of courses in subjects such as Deejaying, Beatmaking, Youtubing, and Photoshop. Courses require registration, consistent attendance, and have specific start and end dates.

Professional DJ’s and teaching artists lead hands-on classes as students work towards DJ’ing their own live events. Along the way, students will explore DJ history, rising global sounds, and connections between dance music genres. Lighthouse provides all the equipment and software each student needs including iPads, djay Pro software, and Pioneer WeGO controllers.
