Two new campsites will be offered at Settlers Cabin and South Park beginning June

Pittsburgh, PA, March 13, 2019 – YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh today announced it will partner with Allegheny County Parks to expand its summer camp programming. In addition to its 13 existing campsites, two new campsites will be available this summer at Settlers Cabin Park in Robinson Township and South Park located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.

YMCA Day Camp at Settlers Cabin Park and Spencer Family YMCA Camp Cloverleaf at South Park will run from June 10 – August 23 with before camp beginning at 7 a.m. and after camp ending at 6 p.m. With each park expanding across more than 1,500 acres, YMCA camps will have access to the pavilions and other park amenities including exclusive swim time at the wave pools.

"Families rely on convenient camp locations near where they live and work, so we’re excited to offer two new camp sites in partnership with Allegheny County’s Park Department," said Todd Brinkman, Vice President, Youth Development at the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh. "Moms and dads have 12 weeks to plan for when kids go on summer break. Our goal is to help these parents easily fill their summer calendars with fun and safe activities so their kids can make great friends and engage in new activities at our camps."

The partnership came about as the YMCA continues to grow its "Y Without Walls” initiative, a plan to serve communities without a physical YMCA building by creating partnerships to bring YMCA services and programs to the neighborhood. To ensure the Robinson-area and South Hills communities would have access to a YMCA day camp this summer, the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh reached out to Allegheny County Parks on what seemed like a natural partnership.

"This was a natural partnership for Allegheny County. The Y has a great history of running successful summer day camps and we have the space and resources to accommodate a fun camp experience," said County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. "Our vision has always been to have something going on in our parks every day, and this partnership helps build on that vision, and provides a new reason for visitors to come to the county parks."

Registration for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh’s summer camps is now open. To learn more about locations, ages and pricing, please visit ycamps.org. In addition, the YMCA partnered with L.L. Bean to host YMCA L.L. Bean Outdoor Adventure Camps. Information on these camps will be released later this month.
