Phase One: YMCA Reopening Information

PhaseOneReopening

We have missed you and are so excited to welcome you back to the Y!

With counsel of medical experts and best practices from other YMCA’s around the country, we are working toward a phased opening of our YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh branches beginning with four locations on Friday, June 12. Our phased approach ensures we are able to meet state/local health guidelines while providing a safe member experience and allowing both members and staff to get comfortable with new routines.

The following branches will open at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 12: Baierl Family YMCA (Wexford), Sampson Family YMCA (Plum), Spencer Family YMCA (Bethel Park) and Thelma Lovette YMCA (Hill District).

Please begin by reviewing the details below and then look for additional communications to be shared on Tuesday, June 9. For anyone who has a membership currently on hold, you will receive information on how to resolve your membership status on Tuesday. Our staff is preparing to serve you and make this a seamless process so you may begin utilizing our facilities right away.

REOPENING GUIDE

The first phase will allow us to see what works and what needs to be improved before we open the remaining branches in subsequent phases. If your location is not among those in the first stage, I want to remind you that you are able to use any branch within the Association as part of your membership.

As our locations reopen, we want to remind you things may look a little different than they did in the past. There will be new safety dividers and signage, updated protocols and procedures and changes to building capacity and available workout spaces. Reduced hours of operation at each site will allow more time for staff to fully sanitize the building and prepare for the next day.

Phase One Hours of Operation
Monday – Thursday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturdays: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Sunday: CLOSED

Senior Hours
Monday – Friday: Noon – 2 p.m.; Members are encouraged to allow this time for our vulnerable populations only

During this initial stage of reopening, some services and programs will not be available, but will be implemented in subsequent phases based on guidance from health officials and government leaders, input from subject matter experts and the Y’s confidence in enforcing compliance with all COVID-19 preventive actions.

Again, further information on resolving your membership status will be sent out Tuesday, June 9. Until then, please spend time reviewing the policies, procedures and required waiver on our website: pittsburghymca.org/forasaferus.

Thank you for your cooperation and your patience during this period of transition. Although this may lead to some individual inconvenience, it really cannot be stressed enough—your health and safety, and that of our employees, are our priority—and every decision we make is with that in mind.

See you soon at the Y.
