Thanks to generous donations, Somerset County elementary and middle school students can step out of their schools and into the outdoors—at no cost to their families or schools. Here, learning comes alive through:
Hands-on educational modules that align with Pennsylvania’s state standards
Special outdoor PODS (mini-classrooms) scattered across camp
A state-of-the-art Environmental Education Center designed for exploration and discovery
This program doesn’t just supplement education—it transforms it, giving students a chance to experience the wonder of the natural world firsthand.
Why It Matters
For many kids, Deer Valley is their first real introduction to the outdoors—where they learn not only about ecosystems, conservation, and wildlife, but also about teamwork, curiosity, and the importance of caring for the planet.
But right now, only a portion of Somerset County schools can participate. With your support, we can expand this fund and bring students from Meyersdale, Rockwood, Salisbury, and Turkeyfoot schools into the program.
Be Part of the Experience
Your gift makes it possible for students to:
Paddle across the lake while studying water ecology
Hike trails while learning about biodiversity
Get hands-on with science in ways textbooks simply can’t match
Every donation helps us inspire the next generation of explorers, scientists, and environmental stewards.
Help us grow the Deer Valley Environmental Education Fund—because every child deserves the chance to learn from nature.
