Pittsburgh’s Thanksgiving Turkey Trot opens registration

"P3R, the organization behind the Pittsburgh Marathon, has opened registration for its annual Turkey Trot race on Thanksgiving Day.

Runners can line up at the starting line on Nov. 26 at 7:30 a.m. for the 5-mile race and the “Double Gobble:” a five-miler plus a 5K. The regular 5K begins at 8:30 a.m., and the 1-mile fun run begins at 9:30 a.m.

Registration for adults ranges from $27.49 for the fun run to $93.49 for the Double Gobble. Children between the ages of 5 and 18 will receive a 50% discount, and children under 4 years old can run for free. Participants will earn a medal if they complete their event.

Proceeds will benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh’s food pantry programs.

“The Turkey Trot has become a beloved Pittsburgh Thanksgiving tradition because it brings people together for a great cause,” P3R Interim CEO and Board President Bob Shooer said in a release.

“Whether you’re running, walking or cheering from the sidelines, it’s a fun way to start the holiday with family and friends while also giving back to our community.”

P3R has yet to release a course map, although past races have taken place Downtown and on the North Shore. The organization expects approximately 8,500 participants this year, up from 8,000 in 2025.
